How to restore the wallet


Description: How to restore your wallet if your phone was lost/stolen or if you have accidentally deleted your Bitcoin.com wallet app?


This article will guide you on how to restore your wallet.

Bitcoin.com has no control over your private keys or any transactions made; we can not restore your wallet for you. However, you can check below the multiple options on how to do it yourself.


Make sure you have backed up your wallet. Backup is needed to restore your wallet, and it's essential since Bitcoin.com has no access to users' wallets. We cannot help recover wallets or funds if the user has failed to back up their wallet.


  • Cloud Backup - Our new cloud backup feature is now available and giving users an extra security level. You need to go to the settings tab on the bottom right part of the app. Click Security Center, then log in to the Google email address you have used and input your cloud backup password.

  • 12 - Word recovery phrases - You can manually backup your wallet by saving your 12-word recovery phrases:

Tap the three dots on the top right corner of your wallet> Show recovery phrases > Save the recovery phrases to a secure notepad or write them down and put them somewhere safe.


Or you can go to the settings tab of the app located at the bottom right part:


Tap Security Center > Choose Manual Backup > Save the recovery phrases to a secure notepad, write them down, and put them somewhere safe.

  • Restore via Exported wallet.data file on device - (This requires the password that you had used when you created the backup) - You can manually retrieve the wallet.data file by going to your device's file manager and look for the Bitcoin.com folder. There should be a wallet.data file. Open the file, then Enter the master password that you have set up in the app. Retrieve the recovery phrases.

Please note: If you have not backed up your wallet previously. The recovery phrases will not show up on your wallet.data.


  • Restore via Exported wallet.data file on email - (This requires the password that you had used when you created the backup) - You can manually retrieve the wallet.data file by checking the email from us if you have selected to send the encrypted wallet recovery file to be sent via email. Open the encrypted file and Enter the master password that you have set up in the app. Retrieve the recovery phrases.

Please note: If you have not backed up your wallet previously. The recovery phrases will not show up on your wallet.data.
