Pending transactions on Solana

Written by Ciaran

Summary

If your transaction on the Solana network is pending, it usually means the transaction has been submitted to the network but has not yet been confirmed on the blockchain.

This article explains:

  • Why Solana transactions become pending

  • How network conditions affect confirmation times

  • Why pending transactions may prevent additional transactions from being processed

  • What you can do if your transaction appears stuck

Why is my Solana transaction pending?

Transactions on the Solana network may remain pending for a number of reasons, including:

  • The network is experiencing unusually high activity

  • Temporary network congestion

  • A previous transaction from the same wallet is still being processed

  • Temporary wallet synchronization issues

Most Solana transactions are confirmed very quickly. However, during periods of high network activity or temporary network instability, confirmation may take longer than usual.

How long do Solana transactions take?

Most Solana transactions are confirmed within a few seconds.

However, during periods of heavy network activity, transactions may remain pending for longer depending on:

  • Network congestion

  • Validator performance

  • The status of previous transactions from the same wallet

Why do pending transactions block newer transactions?

Transactions sent from the same wallet are processed in sequence.

If one transaction remains pending, additional transactions from the same wallet may also be delayed until the earlier transaction is confirmed or fails.

For example:

  • Transaction #5 is pending

  • Transaction #6 cannot confirm until #5 completes

This behavior is normal and helps ensure transactions are processed in the correct order.

Can I cancel or speed up a pending transaction?

In most cases, no.

Unlike some other blockchain networks, Solana transactions generally cannot be cancelled or sped up once they have been submitted to the network.

If a transaction remains pending, it must either:

  • Be confirmed by the network, or

  • Expire and fail automatically if it is not processed before its validity period ends

What should I do if my transaction is stuck?

Try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Wait a few minutes and refresh the wallet.

  • Check the transaction status using a Solana blockchain explorer.

  • Make sure you have enough SOL in your wallet to pay network fees.

  • Check whether another transaction from the same wallet is still pending.

  • Restart and update your Bitcoin.com Wallet app to the latest version.

Important information

  • Pending transactions are not final.

  • A transaction is only complete once it is confirmed on the blockchain.

  • If a transaction expires before being confirmed, it will fail and your funds will remain in your wallet.

  • Avoid repeatedly sending the same transaction, as this may create confusion or duplicate transactions.
