When and how can I claim my tokens?

Claiming went live on Dec 8, 2022 at ~00:30 UTC and is ongoing here. To claim, simply connect with the wallet you used to participate in the token sale, then select the "Claim Verse" button and follow the instructions.

Tokens that have been unlocked (in line with the emission schedule) are available to be claimed. Claiming your tokens requires interacting with a smart contract. Don’t worry, you don’t need to know what that is, or how to interact with them. The user-friendly portal on the Verse DEX makes the process painless.

Interacting with a smart contract does however mean you will have to pay a transaction fee for the gas used to claim your tokens. To be precise, claiming VERSE tokens requires approximately ~50,000 gas units. Assuming a gas price of 10gwei, claiming would cost approximately 0.0005 ETH. The first time you interact with the contract, you’ll also need to enroll as a recipient. This will consume ~150,000 gas units. Again assuming a gas price of 10gwei, this transaction would cost around 0.0015 ETH. Please be aware that the cost of gas varies depending on how congested the network is.

When should I claim my VERSE ?

If you’re not planning on selling your VERSE or using it to add liquidity to the Verse DEX, for most people there’s no reason to claim. You can just let your VERSE continue to accumulate, then claim it later when you’re ready.

Your VERSE tokens will constantly unlock, but it doesn’t make sense to constantly claim those tokens. That’s because of the transaction fee that’s necessary when claiming. How often you decide to claim your VERSE tokens will depend on several factors, including:

  1. How many tokens you are claiming.

  2. What the current market price of VERSE is.

  3. What the current price of gas (gwei) is.

  4. Whether you’re planning on using your VERSE to add liquidity to the Verse DEX.

At a minimum, it seems reasonable to make sure that the number of tokens you are claiming multiplied by the current VERSE market price is several times greater than what it costs to claim.

# of VERSE tokens to claim * VERSE price>= 50,000 * GAS price

The above formulation is the most basic way to evaluate when to claim. For example, if you’ve purchased a relatively small number of tokens, it may make sense to claim only once after all the tokens have unlocked in 18 months. On the other hand, if you are interested in staking your VERSE tokens for yield (when staking is live), it might make sense to claim more than once so you can start staking sooner.

When will I receive my tokens?

If you bought in the token sale, your tokens began unlocking immediately after the Token Generation Event (TGE) which was Dec 7, 2022 at ~00:00 UTC.

Will I receive them all at once or over time?

Tokens unlock block-by-block on a linear schedule over 18 months. In other words, every Ethereum block (approximately every 7 seconds) more of your tokens will unlock and be available for claiming. This means the longer you wait, the more tokens you’ll be able to claim. If, for example, you purchased 18,000 tokens, 1000 tokens will unlock every month, or about 33 per day.

When will buyers begin to access their tokens?

The token generation event (Dec 7, 2022 at ~00:00 UTC) began the emissions of VERSE tokens on the Ethereum blockchain on a block-by-block basis (every ~7 seconds). Tokens purchased in Sale B (which includes the public sale) unlock linearly over 18 months starting from the token generation event. So, after one month, 1/18 of your tokens will be available to claim. Tokens purchased in Sale A unlock linearly over 1 year.

Can we buy VERSE on exchanges?

VERSE can be traded on centralized cryptocurrency exchanges Kucoin and Bitmart.

VERSE is also available to trade on Bitcoin.com's decentralized exchange Verse Dex at verse.bitcoin.com. The currently available trading pairs are VERSE/ETH and VERSE/DAI. For instructions on how to use the Verse DEX, please see this guide. If you’re new to the concept of decentralized exchange, this primer will get you started.

When can US citizens start purchasing VERSE?

VERSE is available to trade on Verse Dex at verse.bitcoin.com. Anyone can use the Verse DEX.

When can we sell tokens?

You’ll be able to sell your tokens as soon as you claim them. Please see above for detailed information on claiming.

What is the circulating supply at launch?

VERSE started with zero circulating supply at launch. Tokens emit linearly in line with the emission schedule. Please see this article for more details.

How do I add VERSE token to Metamask and other web3 wallets?

To add tracking for VERSE to your favorite web3 wallet, the process is typically to select add/import token then enter the VERSE token contract address, which is: 0x249ca82617ec3dfb2589c4c17ab7ec9765350a18 (view on Etherscan).

In Metamask specifically:

  1. From the Assets tab, scroll down and select import tokens.

  2. Next select the Custom token tab.

  3. In the Token contract address field, enter the following:0x249ca82617ec3dfb2589c4c17ab7ec9765350a18 (view on Etherscan). That should automatically fill in the token symbol, which is VERSE and the number of decimals, which should be 18.

How do I manage my VERSE using a hardware wallet like Ledger or Trezor?

If you’re holding VERSE in an address managed by a hardware wallet like Ledger or Trezor, you can safely transact VERSE by connecting your hardware wallet to MetaMask. Once you’ve connected your hardware wallet to MetaMask, you’ll initiate VERSE transactions using MetaMask then sign those transactions with your connected hardware wallet. MetaMask’s Hardware Wallet Support Hub provides links to step-by-step instructions for connecting each of the hardware wallets it supports, which at the time of writing are Ledger, Trezor, AirGap, Vault, Keystone, and Lattice. Note that connections to hardware wallets are currently only supported in the browser extension version of Metamask (ie. not the mobile app version).
