How to hard refresh on Chrome, Firefox, or Edge on desktop

Windows

Use the shortcuts Ctrl+F5 or Ctrl+Shift+R

Mac

Use the shortcut Cmd+Shift+R, or press and hold the Shift key and mouse-click the Reload button.

How to hard refresh on Internet Explorer

Use the shortcut Ctrl+F5, or press and hold the Ctrl key and mouse-click the Reload button.

How to hard refresh on Safari on desktop

There are no direct shortcuts to hard refresh. To perform the same functions as a hard refresh shortcut, you will have to:

  1. Empty the cache by using the shortcut Cmd+Option+E.

  2. Press and hold the Shift key and mouse-click the Reload button.

How to hard refresh Chrome on Android

There are no keyboard shortcuts to hard refresh on mobile. To perform the same functions as a hard refresh shortcut, you will have to:

  1. Launch the Chrome Android app.

  2. Tap on the three-dot menu icon.

  3. Select Settings from the list of options.

  4. Scroll down and tap on the Site Settings tab.

  5. Within the Site Settings, open the Data Stored tab.

  6. Scroll to find the website URL you wish to hard refresh and tap on it. This will remove its data from Chrome.

  7. Hit on the Clear & reset button.

  8. Go to the website you cleared and reset, tap the three-dot menu icon and tap the Reload button.

How to hard refresh Safari on IOS

There are no keyboard shortcuts to hard refresh on mobile. To perform the same functions as a hard refresh shortcut, you will have to:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone/iPad.

  2. Scroll down and tap Safari, then tap on Advanced

  3. Tap on Website Data, then tap on the Edit option in the top right corner.

  4. Scroll to find the website URL you wish to hard refresh and tap on it. This will remove its data from Safari.

  5. Open Safari and visit the website. Safari will load a fresh copy from the server.
