What is Concordium?

Concordium is a Layer-1 blockchain with a built-in identity layer that uses zero-knowledge proofs to verify users, businesses, and AI agents without exposing personal data. Products include Verify & Pay for ZKP-based identity and payments, and Agent Chain for verified AI agent identity and agentic payments. Concordium serves financial institutions, payment service providers, and enterprises globally. Learn more about Concordium here.

What is CCD?

CCD is the native token of the Concordium network. You need CCD to pay transaction fees when sending CCD or interacting with the Concordium blockchain. CCD can also be used for staking and governance on the network.

Transaction fees on Concordium are pegged to fiat value, which keeps costs stable and predictable even when the CCD price fluctuates. For most standard transfers, fees are typically less than 0.01 CCD. Learn more in our guide to CCD (Concordium) Fees.

Why Use Concordium?

Agent-to-agent transactions change the risk model. When software acts independently, the key question is whether the counterparty can be trusted. Concordium handles this at the protocol level by tying every participant, including AI agents, to a verifiable identity that stays private by default but can be proven when needed. Agents share only what matters for a transaction without exposing underlying data.

As agents operate across services and markets, payments require more than wallet signatures. Concordium enables agents to prove they meet predefined conditions before transacting, while counterparties can enforce rules directly in the flow. This embeds trust, compliance, and verification into the transaction itself, allowing A2A (agent-to-agent) interactions to scale without fragmented checks or unnecessary data exposure.

Agents would choose Concordium for its low fees, fast finality, and identity-backed payment ecosystem. This combination makes it practical for high-frequency, automated interactions where speed, cost predictability, and verifiable trust are required.
