Table of Contents
How to Create a Zano Wallet
Follow these simple steps:
Open the Bitcoin.com Wallet app.
Tap the "Wallets" tab located in the middle of the screen, right next to the "Assets" tab.
Scroll down and tap "ADD/IMPORT."
Select "Add new personal wallet."
From the list of assets, select "Zano."
Enter a name for your wallet in the "Wallet name" field (for example, "My Zano Wallet").
Once you enter a name, the "CREATE ZANO WALLET" button will change color.
Tap the button to create your wallet.
Important: After creating the wallet, make sure to sync it. Zano uses a Simplified Payment Verification (SPV) system, so syncing is needed to stay up-to-date.
How to Swap Other Cryptocurrencies for Zano
Once you’ve created your Zano wallet, you can swap other cryptocurrencies for Zano directly in the Bitcoin.com Wallet app.
Here’s how:
Open the Bitcoin.com Wallet app and go to the homepage.
Tap the "Trade" tab located at the bottom middle of the screen.
Select the pair you want to trade with Zano (for example, Bitcoin to Zano).
Tap "SWAP" and confirm the transaction.
Wait a few minutes, then check your Zano wallet for the updated balance.
💡 If your swap doesn’t go through:
Check the minimum amount required for the trade.
This will be displayed on your screen, right above the "Swap" button.
Make sure your swap amount is higher than the minimum, and try again!
What Are Confidential Layer Assets?
Let’s break this down in a simple way:
Confidential Layer Assets are a special kind of hidden tokens that live on the Zano blockchain.
Think of them like secret coins that work on top of Zano’s system. These can represent things like tokens for projects, digital collectibles, or even private versions of other coins.
Here’s why they matter:
With normal cryptocurrencies, anyone can see your transactions on the blockchain.
But with Zano and its Confidential Layer Assets, the details of your transactions—like amounts, who you’re sending to, and your balance—are hidden.
This gives you more privacy. It’s like putting your transactions in an invisible envelope—the blockchain confirms that a transaction happened, but no one else can see the details.
When you create a Zano wallet, you get access to this privacy feature. It’s like using cash: you can make payments, but no one can track what you’re spending or receiving.
Why You Need ZANO for Transactions
Just like on the Ethereum network (where you need ETH to send tokens), you’ll need a small amount of ZANO in your wallet to cover transaction fees—even when sending Confidential Layer Assets.
Here’s the key point:
ZANO is the fee token for all transactions on the Zano network.
This means you must have ZANO in your wallet to send any transaction, whether it’s ZANO itself or Confidential Layer Assets.
Transaction fees are minimal but necessary. For example, a typical fee might be around 0.01 ZANO.
So remember: Even if you only plan to use Confidential Layer Assets, make sure to have some ZANO in your wallet for transaction fees.
Important: Backup Your Wallet
Your Zano wallet is non-custodial, meaning only you control it. This also means that if you lose access to your phone or the app, there’s no way to recover your wallet unless you’ve saved your recovery phrase.
Here’s what to do:
After creating your Zano wallet, write down the 26-word recovery phrase shown on the screen.
Keep it on a piece of paper, not in your phone or computer.
If you ever need to restore your wallet, you’ll need this 26-word phrase.
Want to see your full 26-word recovery phrase or QR code?
Here’s how:
Tap the "Wallets" tab.
Select your Zano wallet (e.g., "My Zano Wallet").
Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
Select "Show my recovery phrase."
⚠️ Important Notes:
Never share your recovery phrase with anyone. If someone has it, they can take your funds.
No cloud backup is available for Zano wallets (you can’t back up to iCloud or Google Drive).
Write down your 26-word recovery phrase on sturdy paper and keep it in a safe place, like a safe or lockbox.
If you lose this phrase, you will not be able to recover your Zano wallet.
